The Problem:
Clothing and textiles make up 5.7% of New York's waste and only 15% of textiles are recovered for recycling. That means 85% of textile waste ends up in landfills and incinerators when the majority of these can be reused.
The Solution:
THREADIT: An application that connects students with fashion studios and boutiques in New York City in order to recycle their fabric and textile scraps. This app will allow studios to get rid of their fabric scraps in an environmentally friendly manner by giving them away to students to be reused. This app promotes the environmental benefits of reusing and recycling textiles.
